EXCELR8 MOTORSPORT

About Us

Business first, race team second.

EXCELR8 Motorsport is practically unique among race teams in that its founder, Justina Williams, has a successful background in business rather than coming from a career in motorsport.

This means the team has a far greater appreciation for the needs of our Commercial Partners than our competitors, and are as committed to delivering a return on your marketing investment as we are to achieving results on track.

The team devotes an enormous amount of effort to optimising its operations and presentation in order to provide a highly professional and marketable platform, and were recognised with a ‘Spirit of the Championship’ Award for the best dressed and most innovative garage during our maiden season in the BTCC in 2019.

Founded in 2010, a determination to succeed combined with high levels of professionalism meant that success was never far away and the team was rewarded with their first MINI CHALLENGE championship in 2010. Another 41 titles have followed, along with numerous championship runner up trophies.

Since 2014 the team has shown their ability as a constructor of expertly engineered, high performance race cars. EXCELR8 Motorsport are solely responsible for the development and production of more than 70 new JCW class cars for the MINI CHALLENGE UK, which has seen the championship go from strength to strength and secure its status as the UK’s finest one make saloon racing championship.

The quality of the cars has also gained them international recognition, leading to the formation of the MINI CHALLENGE series in both Japan and China for 2019. The team have delivered another 30 cars, and have provided technical support at several exhibition races.

In 2019 the team appeared at the highest level of UK motorsport for the first time as they campaigned the venerable MG6s in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship. Despite experiencing an extremely steep learning curve, the team approached the challenge with the same level of professionalism that has delivered such success in other series and were rewarded with 10th in the Independent Teams Championship.

In keeping with the ambitious nature of the team, and in order to accelerate progress towards the ultimate goal of being crowned BTCC champions, EXCELR8 Motorsport embarked on a new challenge for 2020 as it took on the design and build of a brand new car – bringing the Hyundai name into the series for the first time with the introduction of the i30 N Fastback.

Scoring a podium finish on the first weekend with the Hyundai, EXCELR8 Motorsport would take huge strides forwards to become a regular top ten contenders, and expectations were raised even further going into 2021 as the team doubled its entry to four cars thanks to a tie-up with TradePriceCars.com.

With regular front-runner Tom Ingram as part of a new-look line-up, EXCELR8 was able to celebrate a breakthrough BTCC win on home soil at Snetterton, with further wins following at Brands Hatch and Knockhill as the team established itself as a consistent front-runner.

The progress then continued into 2022 and the start of the BTCC’s new hybrid era, which coincided with EXCELR8 introducing a new, bespoke engine for the Hyundai. Having scored the first hybrid win at Donington Park, Ingram would go on to win six times in total to secure the championship title, with team-mate Daniel Lloyd scoring three wins of his own – to give the team an impressive 30 per cent win record.

With one BTCC title now secured, the aim heading into 2023 is to not only defend the drivers’ title but also to add further silverware to an already packed trophy cabinet.

Don’t take our word for it.
