About Us.

Business first, race team second.

EXCELR8 Motorsport is practically unique among race teams in that its founder, Justina Williams, has a successful background in business rather than coming from a career in motorsport.

This means the team has a far greater appreciation for the needs of our Commercial Partners than our competitors, and are as committed to delivering a return on your marketing investment as we are to achieving results on track.

The team devotes an enormous amount of effort to optimising its operations and presentation in order to provide a highly professional and marketable platform, and were recognised with a ‘Spirit of the Championship’ Award for the best dressed and most innovative garage during our maiden season in the BTCC in 2019.

Founded in 2010, a determination to succeed combined with high levels of professionalism meant that success was never far away and the team was rewarded with their first MINI CHALLENGE championship in 2010. Another 21 titles have followed, along with numerous championship runner up trophies.

Since 2014 the team has shown their ability as a constructor of expertly engineered, high performance race cars. EXCELR8 Motorsport are solely responsible for the development and production of more than 70 new JCW class cars for the MINI CHALLENGE UK, which has seen the championship go from strength to strength and secure its status as the UK’s finest one make saloon racing championship.

The quality of the cars has also gained them international recognition, leading to the formation of the MINI CHALLENGE series in both Japan and China for 2019. The team have delivered another 30 cars, and have provided technical support at several exhibition races.

In 2019 the team appeared at the highest level of UK motorsport for the first time as they campaigned the venerable MG6s in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship. Despite experiencing an extremely steep learning curve, the team approached the challenge with the same level of professionalism that has delivered such success in other series and were rewarded with 10th in the Independent Teams Championship.

In keeping with the ambitious nature of the team, and in order to accelerate progress towards the ultimate goal of being crowned BTCC champions, EXCELR8 Motorsport embarked on a new challenge for 2020 as it took on the design and build of a brand new car – bringing the Hyundai name into the series for the first time with the introduction of the i30 N Fastback.

Scoring a podium finish on the first weekend with the Hyundai, EXCELR8 would take huge strides forwards to become a regular top ten contenders, and expectations are high of more progress in 2021 as the team doubles its entry to four cars thanks to a tie-up with TradePriceCars.com.

Draper Tools – Kev Smith, Head of Marketing

2021 marked our third year in the BTCC, and whilst it was clearly a very different season to our first due to the pandemic, it nonetheless delivered real return on investment – not to mention some sensational racing and amazing results with EXCELR8 Motorsport’s brand new Hyundais. It was exciting to be part of that journey as the team developed the i30, and to see the Draper Tools logo emblazoned across the side of what we think was the best-looking car on the grid. After following ‘from the sidelines’ in 2020, we are all hugely looking forward to even greater activation of our partnership and returning to the track so we can support the team in person.

Third Millennium – Pete Jones, Managing Director

We are delighted to re-confirm our support of Ginsters EXCELR8 with TradePriceCars.com for a third consecutive campaign in the BTCC. The progress the team has made in the space of two years in such a hugely competitive series has been nothing short of outstanding, and not only was the Hyundai the best-looking car on the grid last season, but its potential was also immediately clear to see, achieving a podium finish in just its third race.

To now add into the mix a driver of Tom’s calibre looks sure to make the team a real contender for honours in 2021. His results speak for themselves, and the only major accolade still missing from his impressive career CV is the overall title, which I have no doubt will be a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’. We look forward to partnering him and Ginsters EXCELR8 with TradePriceCars.com in their pursuit of the biggest prize in British motorsport.

Dr Penny Moyle – Race Against Dementia

Race Against Dementia are thrilled to have the support of EXCELR8 and Chris Smiley as our first Race Against Dementia Champion. This great opportunity, enabled by Kiltads Motorsport Marketing, allows us to highlight the unique approach that Race Against Dementia is taking in instilling the mindset of F1 and motorsport racing to catalyse a change in dementia research.

We look forward to working with the team and Chris to raise awareness of the crisis of dementia within the BTCC community, and establish a strong partnership as we work tirelessly towards beating dementia.

Chris Smiley – BTCC Driver

Since Joining EXCELR8 BTCC in 2020 I’ve been welcomed with open arms and shared a successful season in a brand new car which is an absolute credit to the team. We’ve had a strong working relationship on and off the circuit and one that will strengthen into the future!

Tim Porter – Josh Porter’s Father.

After an incident in the first race of the weekend we were packing up ready to go home but, without hesitation – the EXCELR8 crew loaded the car into the trailer, returned to the workshop and worked overnight to replace the whole front end of the car.

At 4.30am we received a text to say that it was all done and ready to go!

On Sunday morning the car was back in the awning looking as as good as new and we managed to race to a podium finish in Race 2 with a new lap record!

The level of service and dedication, of the team is second to none.

They really are “the best in the business”

Alan Maybin – Jac Maybin’s Father

As a rookie to car racing EXCELR8 made my son feel at ease immediately. They are dedicated to what they do & nothing is ever a problem. Its a great , driven, family atmosphere the moment you walk in the awning. They deliver professionalism and results!

Richard Newman – MINI CHALLENGE Driver

EXCELR8 Motorsport are an amazing team to be a part of. Their professionalism and drive to succeed is second to none all the while putting your best interests at the forefront of their priorities. Not only have they helped me to excel as a driver but also as a person with in the Motorsport community and it feels like the sky is the limit with my racing career as a part of their team!

Howard Goodman – Toby Goodman’s Father

EXCELR8 Motorsport is a gem. They took Toby under their wing and basically poured in all the skills needed to run at the front in an extremely competitive series. We had support on logistics, financing, data, tyre preparation, testing, racecraft, mental prep, setup – lots and lots of setup, licencing and most importantly, sponsorship support .

All in all they are alongside you every step of the way if you need them to be, or not, depending on what you need. The team has strength in depth and a comprehensive stepping stone of series and experience that can take you from a raw novice all the way to 24hr racing, TCR or BTCC, if you can.

There are plenty of teams that take your money, or your sponsors money, and give precious little in return other than the core race support and I can tell you for a fact that EXCELR8 is not like that. Anthony and Justina run a friendly, quality team with high standards of preparation and a strong sporting ethos; whether you are just starting out on your racing journey at the back of the grid or going for wins at the front everybody gets 100% support and their is no hierarchy or favouritism.

But make no mistake – If EXCELR8 are on the grid, they are not there to make up the numbers, they are there to Win.
