PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB

The Porsche Carrera Cup GB is the fastest one-make series in the UK and has been the springboard for a number of drivers looking to forge a career in sportscar racing.

Launched back in 2003, the series has been part of the TOCA package since the very first race, and will continue to run as a support series to the British Touring Car Championship until at least 2026 after a one-year option was added to the latest three-year deal.

Tim Harvey, Richard Westbrook, Dan Cammish, Daniel Harper and Harry King are amongst an impressive list of former champions, with Cammish one of a number of drivers to have then gone on to compete in the BTCC.

Former Williams F1 racer Nicholas Latifi is another member of the Carrera Cup GB alumni, having contested a part campaign back in 2015.

The series features a packed grid of identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars, with a new machine based on the eighth-generation Type 992 model having debuted in 2022.

Powered by a 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine producing 510hp and with improved levels of downforce, the Type 992 is the most powerful car ever used in the series but also a hugely versatile model designed to be used by novice and professional drivers alike.

Having run events in mainland Europe in the past, the 2023 season will see the Carrera Cup GB running exclusively on the touring car package – with a total of 16 races planned across eight meetings.

Regulations remain consistent with 2022, with a reverse grid – featuring anywhere from four to six drivers – being used in the second race of the weekend, and a scoring system that awards points to the top eight drivers.

Drivers will compete in three classes – Pro, Pro-Am and Am – whilst there are also awards handed out to the top Rookie and to the leading Entrant.
