Memories of Brands Hatch

As the first round of 2026 BTCC season came to an end, all eyes turned to Brands Hatch and its Indy layout; the scene of the season’s second race weekend. Renowned for drama, overtakes, and unforgettable moments, it is a venue at which EXCELR8 Motorsport has delivered standout performances.
EXCELR8 Motorsport’s double podium at the previous race allowed it to set the tone for the coming races. And, in Brands Hatch, we will look to build up further momentum and confidence. For fans, it’s a chance to witness the next chapter unfold at one of the most atmospheric circuits in British motorsport, where close racing is guaranteed, and every lap feels like a highlight reel.
Brands Hatch Through The Ages
The Brands Hatch racetrack began life in the 1920’s as a simple grass track used by motorcyclists. Over time, what was once an informal racing venue developed into a fully-fledged circuit. In the 1930’s, tarmac replaced the grass surface. That is when the circuit began its transformation into one of the UK’s most prestigious motorsport destinations.
Nowadays, Brands Hatch is defined by two distinct layout. The shorter Indy circuit and the longer Grand Prix configuration. The Indy layout used for this weekend’s action is just under two miles long and is known for relentless, high-intensity racing. The layout puts the drivers under constant pressure as they navigate famous corners such as Paddock Hill Bend and Druids in quick succession.
The Grand Prix layout is as demanding, extending the lap into the surrounding woodland where it adds technical sections like Hawthorn Bend and Westfield. This faster, more flowing layout is often used for championship finales where the scale matches the magnitude of title-deciding moments.
However, more than the two distinctive layouts, it is the natural amphitheatre setting that make Brands Hatch special. The spectators are treated to a panoramic view, so the atmosphere there is unique.
Team Excelr8 at Brands Hatch
On the Indy layout, the team has also demonstrated strong pace, race craft, and consistency. Moreover, the short lap rewards their aggressive yet controlled approach that allows the drivers to maximise every sector and stay firmly in the fight.
EXCELR8 also rose to the occasion on the Grand Prix circuit where the longer layout puts the team to the test. The team’s well-balanced setups have often been rewarded with success.
Last season, Brands Hatch was another positive chapter in EXCELR8’s history. A strong qualifying performance translated into competitive race results, reinforcing the team’s upward trajectory. Its consistency, combined with clear potential for more, means it is the team to watch as the 2026 season unfolds.
Returning to Brands Hatch this weekend, EXCELR8 Motorsport arrives with momentum, belief, and a record that suggests more success could be just around the corner. For fans, which means one thing: expect action, expect drama, and expect memories to be made once again.
