HARVEY RIBY SECURES EXCELR8 DEVELOPMENT ROLE

HARVEY RIBY SECURES EXCELR8 DEVELOPMENT ROLE

Harvey Riby will move a step closer to his dream of one day competing in the British Touring Car Championship after earning a place on EXCELR8 Motorsport’s Driver Development programme.

The teenager will once again compete in EXCELR8 colours in the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE this season in what will be his second year in car racing, having made the move up from karting twelve months ago.

Harvey secured a best finish of ninth during his rookie campaign and heads into 2024 looking to climb up the pecking order as part of EXCELR8’s multi-car assault on one of the most competitive championships in UK motorsport.

In an additional boost ahead of the season opener at Snetterton, Harvey has been named as one of three new Academy Drivers within the EXCELR8 family, providing him with the chance to work alongside the team’s title-winning British Touring Car Championship outfit during the season.

That will provide valuable knowledge and experience to help Harvey as he seeks to move up the motorsport ladder, with his Academy role reflected in a livery that will be similar to that being run on EXCELR8’s BTCC programme this season.

Harvey Riby said:
“I was already looking forward to returning to the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy this season, but the excitement levels have increased even more after being named as an Academy Driver.

“It’s no secret that I would love to one day compete in touring cars so the opportunity to work alongside one of the best teams in the BTCC can only benefit me as I look towards the future.

“I think the car looks mega and I’m aiming to make the most of the opportunity I have been given and make an impression on track during the year ahead.”

Justina Williams, EXCELR8 Team Owner, said:
“Harvey became a very popular member of the team last season, and we are delighted to welcome him onto our Driver Academy programme for 2024.

“As a young driver with dreams of working his way up the motorsport ladder, the role will provide him with a fantastic opportunity to gain extra knowledge of what is required to compete at the highest level and we look forward to working with him both on and off track to make an impression during the year ahead.”
