EXCELR8 OPEN TO COLLABORATION AS BTCC SEEKS EXPANSION

Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship front-runners EXCELR8 have offered a warm welcome to prospective entrants to the series after the recent announcement that organisers TOCA has opened the door to two new teams for 2025.

Currently competing under the Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS name, EXCELR8 joined the BTCC grid for the first time in 2019 running a pair of ex-works MG6 GT machines before taking on the development and build of a new car for 2020.

Despite the additional challenges that arose as a result of the pandemic, EXCELR8 immediately became a contender for podium finishes and broke onto the top step for the first time in 2021.

The introduction of a bespoke Hyundai engine for 2022 developed alongside Swindon Powertrain saw EXCELR8 reach the pinnacle of British motorsport as it took the BTCC title with Tom Ingram, who again heads the championship standings this time around.

Ingram is one three drivers to have won for the team this season, with Ronan Pearson and Tom Chilton also making it onto the top step.

Having gained vast knowledge and experience in recent years – in addition to that earned through years of success in the MINI CHALLENGE – EXCELR8 is ideally placed to offer assistance to potential new entrants in a number of ways going into 2025 and beyond.

“It isn’t that long ago that we were the ‘new kids on the block’ when it comes to the BTCC, so we are well aware of the challenges that lie ahead for potential new entrants – particularly those who may not have competed at this level before,” team principal Justina Williams said.

“Since making our debut with two of the oldest cars on the grid at the time, we have been able to gain an invaluable amount of knowledge and experience that has enabled us to develop our own car in-house, embark on our own engine programme and get into a position where we were able to secure the championship title in just our fourth season.

“Our Hyundai is a proven package as seen by the fact that three different drivers have been able to take race wins at the wheel this season and we are open to working with new entrants who are seeking hardware or engineering assistance as they make the step up.”

Interested parties are invited to contact BTCC team principal Connor Morgan via email in the first instance in the strictest confidence.
