EXCELR8 ADDS MATT LUFF FOR COOPER FINALE

EXCELR8 has strengthened its driver line-up for the final rounds of the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy after agreeing a deal that will see Matt Luff make his series debut at Brands Hatch.

The 24-year-old is one of two new names who will race in EXCELR8 colours for the season finale as he joins the field on the back of a hugely successful two year stint in the Audi TT Cup Racing Championship.

Having first joined the TT grid in 2024, Luff stormed to the title in impressive fashion this year with no fewer than ten wins from 19 starts. That included a fine hat-trick in the Silverstone season finale that saw him lift the championship crown.

The Audi TT Cup Racing Championship marked a second title since Luff first moved into car racing in the Ginetta Junior Championship, having also clinched top honours whilst competing in the Civic Cup crown back in 2022.

Having also bagged multiple karting titles earlier in his career, Luff will now aim to see what he can do in arguably the most competitive one-make series in UK motorsport when he hits the track in the Cooper for the first time.

News that Luff will join the grid comes after EXCELR8’s title contender Gabe Fairbrother was ruled out of the event with the injuries he sustained in a multi-car accident at Silverstone last month.

Matt Luff said:
“The MINI CHALLENGE is a great place to race and although it wasn’t on my radar for this year, when the opportunity came along, I wasn’t going to turn it down – particularly with a front-running team like EXCELR8.

“I’m aware how competitive the racing is having watched from the sidelines but that is something I’m used to having raced in multiple single-make championships since I moved up from karting.

“Results don’t really matter so much this weekend when I’m not racing to win a championship but it doesn’t mean I won’t be pushing as hard as ever to score the best possible results.”

Justina Williams, EXCELR8 Team Owner, said:
“I am absolutely thrilled to have Matt as part of our line-up for the final round of the Cooper season as we first met back in 2020 and wanted him on the team then!

“Matt’s record in recent seasons speaks for itself and I am very excited to see what he can do at the wheel of one of our cars. I have no doubt that he will be able to deliver three strong results during the weekend ahead.”
