Since 2014 the team has shown their ability as a constructor of expertly engineered, high performance race cars. Excelr8 Motorsport are solely responsible for the development and production of more than 40 new JCW class cars for the MINI CHALLENGE UK, which has seen the championship go from strength to strength and secure its status as the UK’s finest one make saloon racing championship.
The quality of the cars has also gained them international recognition, leading to the formation of the MINI CHALLENGE Japan and MINI CHALLENGE China for 2019. The team have delivered another 30 cars, and have provided technical support at several exhibition races have taken place to raise the profile of the series.
Despite all this success, Excelr8 Motorsport are constantly seeking a new challenge in order to achieve their goal of becoming one of the most recognisable teams in UK motorsport.
As a result, they have undertaken the development of the world’s most advanced racing MINI for endurance racing. Despite featuring a huge number of new and untested components the car was extremely competitive during its first outing at the 2017 Silverstone 24 Hours, finishing 5th in class after a huge amount of effort from the entire team.
After a year of further development the team returned to the event in 2018, setting the fastest lap in class on the way to another 5th place.
Excelr8 Motorsport are also making the step up into the world of touring car racing, competing in both the British Touring Car Championship and TCR Europe.
In the BTCC, Excelr8 will campaign the well known MG6 in 2019 before designing their own car for 2020, whilst in TCR the team have signed a contract with JAS Motorsport to run the Honda Civic Type R FK7 from 2020 onwards.
